Overview
Three days is enough to ride the whole loop without rushing it, as long as the route is built around the riding rather than the shopping stops. Ours is: two long days with the passes, one easy morning home.
You will cross Quan Ba, Ma Pi Leng and the quiet road into Du Gia, sleep in two different homestays, and eat every meal with the family or at a local place we use ourselves. Groups are two to eight riders with one guide. If you would rather not ride, add an easy rider and enjoy the views from the back seat.

Your night bus from Hanoi arrives in Ha Giang around 5am. Breakfast and coffee at our office on Minh Khai Street, then a safety briefing, bike fitting and a short practice loop around the block before we leave — nobody starts the first pass cold.
We climb out of the city to Quan Ba Heaven Gate for the first big view, then follow the valley north. Lunch is at a local place in Yen Minh. The afternoon runs through pine forest and limestone into Dong Van, where we stop at the Hmong King Palace on the way in.

The big day. We ride Ma Pi Leng slowly — it is only 20 km but you will want to stop constantly, and we build the time in. Halfway across we drop down to the Nho Que river for a boat through the Tu San canyon, the deepest in Southeast Asia.
After lunch in Meo Vac the road turns quiet. The last two hours to Du Gia are the part most people remember: no tour buses, rice terraces, kids waving from the roadside. We arrive in time to swim at the waterfall before dinner with the family.

An easy last morning. Optional early swim, breakfast at the homestay, then a relaxed ride back through Thai An and along the hydro lake.
We are back at the office in Ha Giang by early afternoon — time to shower, collect the luggage you left with us, and eat before the 3pm or evening bus back to Hanoi. If you are carrying on to Sapa or Ba Be we will help you sort the ticket.
